Anne founded Buchanan Public Relations in 1998, applying a diverse background in strategic communications that included leadership positions in agency, corporate, government and media environments. Her particular strengths are strategy, crisis communications and social media.
Before launching the firm, Anne spent nine years running the Public Relations Department of a large Philadelphia advertising and PR agency. Prior to that, she held communications positions in the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and at Mellon Bank. She also reported for a chain of papers in the Pittsburgh area.
She is active in a number of professional and non-profit organizations. She is a past board member of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, has served as a Trustee of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and was Vice President of the Philadelphia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). In 2012, Anne received PRSA’s Maxine Elkin Award for Distinguished Service, which honors public relations professionals who demonstrate a commitment to the advancement of the profession.
She was one of the founding members of the Public Relations Global Network, a network of more than 50 independent PR firms around the world. She serves as Vice President of the Americas for the organization and also sits on its Executive Committee. She is also active in PRSA and PPRA.
Anne is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A., Journalism).
