Employee Feature: April

We’re just over a week into April, but somehow, it still feels like January. To distract everyone from this frigid weather, we have this month’s employee feature! This month, which is also her birthday month, the spotlight is on Lauren.

Employee Feature: April

Name: Lauren Force

Title: Account Coordinator

Favorite Part of Working in Public Relations: It’s hard to pinpoint my favorite part of working in PR because there are so many different shades to it and no day is identical to another. But, if I must choose only one, it would be the writing. There are so many styles of writing involved, from informal social media and blog posts to professional news releases and client emails. And, with such a variety of B2B and B2C clients, there are constantly new topics to learn and write about.

Tip for Other Public Relations Professionals: The PR industry is always evolving, so my tip would be to make sure you’re ready to embrace change. With new technologies and social media updates constantly disrupting the status quo, it’s easy to fall behind. Stay up to date by absorbing industry news, becoming certified in Google Analytics or Google AdWords, or joining a local PRSA chapter. And: read, read, read.

Most Memorable Moment at Buchanan PR: My most memorable career-related moment came during my internship when I nailed my first national media hit. So much research goes into crafting that perfect pitch, that it can be demoralizing when reporters pass, or don’t even acknowledge your effort. But, it just takes one hit to make everything we do worth it. Favorite non-work-related moment? But an office wine tasting led by Executive VP Nancy, of course.

Pet Peeve: Poor grammar, and most offensively, the misuse of ‘your’ and ‘you’re.’

Guilty Pleasure: Tim tams. They’re these biscuits filled with chocolatey goodness that I discovered in Australia. Randomly, the only place in the U.S. that stocks them is Target.

Favorite After Work Activity: Going for a long run along the Schuylkill River. Or, enjoying a night out with friends at quizzo (if you need current events or pop culture support – I’m your girl).
